The Thank You Mom Foundation is pleased to announce the offering of a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating Kittatinny Regional High School senior who is planning to further his or her education at a two or four year college.
About Thank You Mom
The Thank you Mom Foundation was formed to help keep Debbie’s memory and spirit alive. Each year we hold a 5k. This year the run will be on April 28th at Kittatinny Valley State Park. The proceeds from this fundraiser are used to help local families who have experienced devastating loss from accidents, illness or sudden death of a family member.
About Debbie Modrow Snook
Debbie’s 5 year old son had fallen into the icy waters of Culver Lake. She dove in to save him and was able to hold him afloat until a neighbor came to their aid in his boat. The neighbor pulled Dylan to safety but when he reached for Debbie, she was gone.
Debbie was a 1988 graduate of KRHS where she was an average student, a class officer, a member of several sports teams and clubs, and a participant in a number of activities. She went on to William Paterson College where she interned for David Letterman. After graduation she worked for Bob Costas on the Later show and then for Greg Kinnear when he moved the show to Los Angeles. One of her more memorable experiences was playing cards on a movie set with stars Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson.
Debbie was a kind, caring, compassionate and generous soul. Often she would be one of the first to welcome a new kid at school. She sang with her church choir and volunteered at the soup kitchen. She helped to raise money for AIDS, volunteered with the Red Cross disaster relief services, Project Self Sufficiency and at Camp Auxilium.
